103/366 - April 12

For anyone who hasn’t heard yet, here’s an official announcement. I passed my driver’s exam! Woooo! I actually passed on the 10th but I never got around to posting it… Oh well, now you know!

This batch of photos is from Hastings (where I took my test) the day before and the day of my test. Mom and I went down to scope it out, see what’s what and where. It’s a nice little place, lots of places to eat at and nice paths to walk by the river. There are a lot of cool houses, too.

At the LeDuc Historic Estate. The trim on the roof made me laugh because it looks like flying moustaches. Can’t unsee!

The estate is famous for its architecture, and I guess there are tours, but they weren’t running when we were there. More info here.

We saw this lovely creature while we were driving around, and oh boy you bet I had to stop and get closer. And lucky me, this cutie was right at the fence and let me get up close. She was pretty shy, but I gave a few pets on the nose before I had to get out of the windy cold. Her coat was brighter and reminded me a whole lot of butterscotch, but the crappy light washed out the tones in the picture.

If you didn’t know, I love horses. I LOVE horses. I love touching them. I love brushing them. I love giving them treats. I love taking pictures of them. I love kissing their noses. And holy crap do I love riding them. If riding and taking care of horses was a job I could be doing right now, I would be doing it right now. Maybe some day!

Easter 2012 at Jan & Bob’s. I meant to get a photo of Viktor, but he was hiding most of the time and I didn’t get the chance before he left. Sneaky. I’ll get you some day!

Ellie in my lap, begging for love…and pie. No pie for you, doggy!

So I thought I was a week behind on posting my pictures…try two and a half! They’re a lot more fun to take than they are to download from the camera, edit, upload to Flickr, and post…

I started a new art journal, and boy does it feel good. I used to have quite a few going all at once and I was working in them all the time, but for some reason fell out of the habit.

The drawing is something I started when I was in Wales, but never got around to finishing it. Sounds familiar…

Speaking of unfinished art journal pages…! I found a box of fabric scraps and just couldn’t stop touching. Since I can’t sew with them, I thought I’d add some glue and paper.

It’s like this: Inspiration hits and there’s a mad flurry of creation, and then suddenly you realize the sun is setting and you’re hungry, but by the time you get back with food the inspiration train of thought has left your station. Oh well. I’m sure it’ll come back some day.

Otherwise known as incident 12 on the list of reasons I regret not getting a telephoto lens when I bought my camera kit.

Here it is. Reason #12, the great blue heron. At least, I’m pretty sure it’s a great blue heron. Possible grey heron? Too far to get a decent picture of, too shy to let me get any closer than the other side of the stream.

These little guys are pretty shy too! The fact that I got a picture was an accident. He was just swim swim swimming along and didn’t notice me until I snapped the photo, and then bloop!, nothing but ripples.

I know what’s on top of MY get-list! (And I don’t mean a muskrat.)
